High foreground to background compression of Static/Slow-moving subjects
High focal lengths reduce the perceived distance between foreground and background or they can be used for better magnification of subjects that are not possible to get closer to. When operating telephoto lenses at 300mm or above focal lengths without image stabilisation or camera support, it is necessary to use shutter speeds over 1/250 sec, making those lenses only suitable for daylight exposures.
